Fairuz是阿拉伯歌壇一舉足輕重的歌后，有阿拉伯人的地方都能聽到她的歌聲，聲線悅耳動人。出生於一平凡的家庭，爸爸是一印刷公司的職員，媽媽是家庭主婦，家中有四兄弟姊妺。十歲時在校內一音樂節被嘗識，開始其音樂之路。一九五五年下嫁給一名音樂人，隨丈夫改從基督教，其後育有四名子女。長子更成為一位音樂家及作曲家；二子後來腦病特發逝世。二女自童年起殘障，大女則成為一名攝影師及導演。第一次大型演唱會在一九五七年一音樂節舉行。一九七八年開始在歐洲及中東巡迴演唱。一九七九年與經理人解約後，與長子合作創作，作品多逹一千五百首，現在只有八百首已發行。她是黎巴嫰人的驕傲，歌曲唱出黎巴嫰人的心聲 ，多年來瘋魔整個阿拉伯世界。
另一位非認識不可的歌后是Umm Kulthum。她出生於一埃及小村落，十二歲開始跟爸爸到處拜訪不同的歌手，尋求協助，後得一名歌手協助及總統的嘗識。主要歌唱愛情、渴望及失落，歌曲多長達數小時。一九零四年出生，一九六七年起身體狀況急轉直下，一 九七五年逝世。她的死亡隆動整個阿拉伯世界，至今還有很多歌迷到埃及憑悼她。其歌曲至今仍深受愛戴，是埃及一十分具代表性人物。
